A lot has been going on in Mighty HQ! The first ever early access play session has been confirmed for December 16 - 18 this year, hooray! We’re not quite ready to share all details around early access, but here’s what we do know (and have been working on). Please note that these features and numbers only apply to the early access playable; the full Mighty Action Heroes game will have the 60-player shenanigans we’ve promised!
Early access: Play with 5 heroes
Which famous Hollywood action heroes do you think these folk have been inspired by? The friend in the middle is fully-rendered by the way; this is how each hero will look like in the game.
Need some help with the imagination? Check this out:
This is what a hero will look like moving in game during our early access playtest.
Early access: 20 player map
We’re envisioning a smaller arena for early access, with no more than 20 players per battle royale match. We have a few internal goals to meet with early access release and one of them is how the game feels. A smaller map will allow us to dive deeper into the details and polish of the game map, and make sure the experience feels good.
I mean, it’ll be hard to feel bad when your map will look this good! The concept art above is just a slice of what you’ll get to experience when we go into early access: the actual early access map will be several biomes bigger. And if you’re wondering how we get from concept sketch to the full map, check out this step by step article written by our concept artist, Venty.
Early access: Buildings can be entered!
This diner won’t just be for show - you’ll be able to walk into it on the game map and conduct the shootout of your lives right in there on its chequered vinyl flooring! And of course, it’s not going to be the only building. If you’ve played many battle royales, I’m sure you’ll have encountered maps where buildings and doors are only for show.
Early access: Happening on browser
Finally, we’re building a multi-platform game not just because it’s one of our specialties as a studio, but also because we want as many people as possible to be able to play. That said, early access will take place in browsers first. We want to use this first playable to gather as much feedback as possible, and don’t want to gate it to specific devices or platforms that not everyone may have. So if you’re a holder and you can browse the internet? You’ll be able to connect your wallet and play. No graphics card, no expensive device. Just the internet and the blockchain, and your good ol’ Big Bear from the Big Bear Syndicate.
This is just the first of many dev blogs to come, and we hope you’ll subscribe and stick around for more! We want to build more in the open because honestly, we’re really excited for what we’re building. And this is us doing exactly just that. See you for the next dev update!
